About

Low Noise Systems is a small studio building WordPress sites, custom web apps, and automation. Run by Enzo Gautier, working from Tokyo and Provence since 2006.

Who we are

Low Noise Systems is a small independent studio. It is run by Enzo Gautier, who has been building websites and software for clients since 2006. We work with a short list of trusted collaborators on larger projects (design, infrastructure, specialised back-end work), but the engagement, the decisions, and the quality of what gets shipped sit with one person on our side. That is on purpose.

Where we work from

We are based between Tokyo and Provence, with clients in France, Japan, the United States, and a few other places. We work remotely with all of them. Time zones rarely cause problems because we are deliberate about asynchronous communication: clear written briefs, regular updates, fast responses.

What we focus on

Three things, in roughly equal measure:

  • WordPress, done properly. Custom themes, small focused plugins, managed hosting on infrastructure we operate. No page builders, no premium themes glued together.
  • Lightweight, fast websites built on static-site generators (mostly Hugo and Astro), deployed to a global CDN. The kind of site that gets a Lighthouse score in the high 90s and stays that way.
  • Custom web applications when off-the-shelf SaaS does not fit. Internal tools, small products, focused builds. Owned by the client, hostable anywhere, no platform lock-in.

Around these, we do the everyday systems work that ties a small business or association together: email, shared drives, permissions, automations between tools.

What we do not do

We do not chase scale. We do not run accounts in three different agencies’ billing systems and pretend to give each one our full attention. We do not push retainers on clients who do not need them. We do not lock work in proprietary platforms that you would have to pay us forever to maintain.

We also do not work on projects we are not the right fit for. If you write to us with something that another shop would do better, we will tell you and, when we can, point you at the right people.

How long we have been doing this

The first websites we shipped went live in 2006. The current studio name and structure are newer (founded in 2024), but the people and the way of working have been at it for nearly two decades. That experience shows up most clearly in the parts of a project that are not glamorous: choosing the right tool for the job instead of the trendy one, knowing which corners can be cut and which absolutely cannot, writing code that the next person will not curse at.
